The Grand Old Hooden Horse was a change of name from "Duke of York" when it was taken over by the Hooden Horse chain. As yet date unknown. However, on New Years Day 2001 it had a serious fire. When cleaned up and restored it became "Tiffins" in May 2004. This premises was forced to close in 2005 following noise complaints from adjacent properties and it was converted to housing.

The business however, continuing with the same name, after it moved in November 2005 to a site at St Davids Bridge which was previously a club. The name was later changed to "Raffles" in November 2009 and the business finally closed in August 2011 for conversion into flats.

In the same chain of Inns there was also a "Hooden Horse" at Rolvenden Layne, the "Hooden on the Water," at Ashford and a "Another Hooden Horse" at Great Chart.
