PUB LIST PUBLIC HOUSES Paul Skelton

Earliest 1857-

Woodman's Arms

Latest 1857+

Bridge

I have found reference to a "Woodman's Arms" addressed as Bridge, but this is the only time I have come across this one so far, and with there being another "Woodman's Arms" in nearby Barham, I am not sure whether it was referring to this one.

The only reason I am including it into Bridge is because the licensee's name doesn't tally with that I know of at the Barham pub for 1857.

From the Kentish Gazette, 29 September 1857.

Saturday. (Before E. Foss, Esq., W. Hyder, Esq., Capt. Slarke, and T. H. Mackay, Esq.)

Applications for spirit licenses were also made by Wm. Williams, of the "Plough and Harrow," Bridge, and William Wilson, "Woodman’s Arms," Bridge, and were refused on a similar ground to the above, (there being too many other houses open in the area) the Bench bearing testimony to the highly respectable characters of the applicants.
