Supposedly established in 1914 but shows up in the 1881 census, also identified as a beer shop as early as 1851..

This is one of Wingham's few surviving thatched buildings and is a continuous jetty house of about 1600. It was granted a Grade II listing on 13 October 1953.

William Terry, beer retailer, Eastry was ordered to pay £1 fine and costs, for having his house open after the proper hour according to the tenor of his licence.

Henry Phillips, beer-shop keeper, Wingham, was fined 10s. and 11s costs for a similar offence.

LICENCING

The plans of the proposed alterations to the “Ship Inn,” Wingham, which Supt. Chaney said would be a great improvement, were approved.

Licences Confirmed.

Granted at the Wingham Licensing Sessions, the following licences were confirmed at Canterbury on Wednesday by the East Kent Confirming Committee. The "Donkey," Temple Ewell (wine on); the "Endeavour," Staple (wine on); the "Ship," Wingham (wine on); and the "Supply Stores," Shepherdswell (beer and wine off).
