PUB LIST PUBLIC HOUSES Paul Skelton

Earliest 1804-

Plough

Latest 1804+

(Name to)

Albert Road

Deal

This is a public house mentioned from archives kept at Deal library under a valuation list of April 1804. It mentions a "Plough" and licensee ?Khu? Redsull.

I do have details of a "New Plough" in Middle Deal Road with verified dates from 1882 to at least 1974, and in 1882 the licensee was also a member of the Redsull family. Due to the above information I am going to assume that the two pubs are connected, if not the same building, but that perhaps the "New Plough" was built upon the same foundations as the old, or at least a new building in the same area and run by the same family.

Since the above information, Deal library also has a sheet listing former pubs of Deal and Walmer and the "Plough" is mentioned in this list as being at Albert Road. This is more or less a continuation of Middle Deal Road, so I believe they are one and the same. However, the document does say that the premises has been demolished, but when is still to be found.

I also have reference to another "Plough" addressed in Beach Street.
