Ye Olde Inn on the South Coast circa 1796.

Here's a good one for the professional painting buffs.

This had been sent to me by Philip Bradley who gives the following information:- Joseph Mallord William Turner RA 1775-1851.

Ye Olde Inn on the South Coast c.1796.

Watercolour on Laid Paper.

Trying to trace this Old Inn, one building has three small windows on the roof, with sign hanging outside the Inn.

He also suggests that it could be "Ye Old Five Bells" of Gillingham, but I have pointed out that Gillingham looks north onto the river Medway and there are only 3 windows in that building and 4 in the painting.
