10 drums of cooking oil stolen from village pub near Maidstone.
Officers are investigating whether it's linked to another theft in the area.
Thieves stole 10 drums of cooking oil from a village pub near
Maidstone. Kent Police was called at 4.16am on Friday (May 29) to
the incident at Butchers Block at the Bell in Bearsted.
Two men are alleged to have left the bar and restaurant carrying
items before driving away towards Bearsted Green. Within 20 minutes
of the reported burglary, police arrested two men.
Officers had rushed to the scene and quickly found the suspects’
vehicle. "Following a short pursuit, it came to a stop on the
coastbound carriageway of the M20. Searches resulted in the recovery
of a number of large barrels containing cooking oil," said a police
spokesperson.
A man, 39, from Chatham, and a man, 37, of no fixed address, have
been arrested on suspicion of theft. Both men, who are Bulgarian
nationals, are in custody while police carry out further enquiries.
Officers are also investigating whether the incident is linked to
another report of theft from a pub in the local area. Anyone with
