I am not quite sure exactly when this one was opened, but it was still the "Bell" in 2020. By 2025, it was renamed the "Butchers Block" or perhaps "Butchers Block at the Bell". The owners having another and original "Butchers Block" in Burham.

10 drums of cooking oil stolen from village pub near Maidstone.

Officers are investigating whether it's linked to another theft in the area.

Thieves stole 10 drums of cooking oil from a village pub near Maidstone. Kent Police was called at 4.16am on Friday (May 29) to the incident at Butchers Block at the Bell in Bearsted.

Two men are alleged to have left the bar and restaurant carrying items before driving away towards Bearsted Green. Within 20 minutes of the reported burglary, police arrested two men.

Officers had rushed to the scene and quickly found the suspects’ vehicle. "Following a short pursuit, it came to a stop on the coastbound carriageway of the M20. Searches resulted in the recovery of a number of large barrels containing cooking oil," said a police spokesperson.

A man, 39, from Chatham, and a man, 37, of no fixed address, have been arrested on suspicion of theft. Both men, who are Bulgarian nationals, are in custody while police carry out further enquiries.

Officers are also investigating whether the incident is linked to another report of theft from a pub in the local area. Anyone with information is urged to call the west Kent appeals line on 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/85057/26.
