I have only found the one reference to this one at present and it looks like this could have been the end of it.

Cock Match.

A Main of Cocks to be fought at the "Star," Chatham, to be held on the 22nd of April, between the gentleman of East Kent against the gentleman of West Kent; to show Eleven Cocks of a side; to Fight for £10. a battle, and £50 the Main.

A Pair of large Cocks to begin fighting precisely at eleven o'clock in the Forenoon.

Sunday morning, about 9 o'clock, a dual was fought in a field, near the "Star," on Chatham Hill, between a Colonel and a Lieutenant in the army, when the Colonel was shot through the side; he was taken to the "Star," with but little hopes of his recovery; the other party drove away all Dover, to embark for the continent; they had both taken chaises from Rochester; the quarrel, it is said, originated in America about two years since, concerning a lady; the wounded person died yesterday morning at 2 o'clock.

On Tuesday last the Coroner's Inquest sat at the "Star Inn," near Chatham Hill, on the body of Colonel Roper, who was mortally wounded in a dual between him and Lieutenant Purefoy (as mentioned in our last,) and, after a long investigation, brought in their verdict wilful murder against the said Lieutenant and his second.

To be Shot for, at Mr. Thomas Soper's, at the "Star," on Chatham Hill, on Friday, the 9th of March, 1792.

A Silver Mugg, valued eight Guineas; likewise a Vint, of 4 Guineas value.

To be determined by each man shooting at Three Pigeons.

The ???? to be shot of as above.

No man to lead with more than Two pipes of Shots.

To be a presented at 10 o'clock.

A Good ordinary at one.

 

Norwich Mercury, Saturday 22 October 1870.

The "Star Inn," Canterbury Road, Chatham, was burned down at an early hour on Thursday.

 

I also have reference to a "Star Coffee House" in Chatham, a "Star" at Gillingham, and another "Star" at Rochester.
