Situated next to the Marine Barracks in Dock Road. In 1858, prior to the other pubs in this area being sold to the Admiralty, the licence was transferred to the "Clarendon," Luton Lane.

 

From the Maidstone Journal, 5 January 1802.

Saturday last the remains of Lewis Rowe, late master of the "Ship" public house, at Blue Town, near Sheerness, was conveyed from his brothers house, the sign of the "Red Lion," near Chatham Church, in which place a few days since he died, to be interred at Strood, Rochester. The procession was attended by the gentleman belonging to the volunteer cavalry of Sheerness, of which he was a member, all the military forms were paid in its usual at such interment.
