Information from local historian Ed Gilbert says that this was never a public house but operated as a beer-retailer then it became a shop and then a private residence. I have also seen it named as the "Cypress."

LICENSING BUSINESS.

The license of “Cyprus Villa” (outdoor) was transferred from the executors of William Dodd to Elizabeth Bowles Dodd, the widow.
