The Swan was originally one of the 13 tied houses, within the estate of Sharpe & Winch's Baker's Cross Brewery, Cranbrook, which (in 1928) was sold to Frederick Leney's Phoenix Brewery, Wateringbury. Since Leney's had themselves been acquired by Whitbread's in 1927, the Swan effectively became a Whitbread tied house. It later became a restaurant and changed name to the "Oxney Gourmet Pie and Burger Bar." (What a mouthful.) Evidently that too reverted back to the "Swan" again on 2 June 2022 after a lengthy time of closure, and in 2025 closed and was up for sale for £595,000.
