45 Loampit Vale Lewisham
Said to have been established as a licensed premises by 1842 but probably earlier. The building was rebuilt in 1923 as part of a "pub improvement" initiative by Truman's Brewery. The entire building and its surrounding streets such as Porson Street was demolished in the late 20th century to make was for local residential development of the Sundermead Estate. I am informed that today by Chris Fairs (2019) that both Holmesdale and Hanover Street no longer exist but looking at A to Z Old to New Streets of London, they are now Loampit Vale and Elvira Street, respectively. Looking on Google Maps, the area would appear to have changed dramatically, with the site of the "Royal Oak" now being opposite a Sainsbury's Local.
As the information is found or sent to me, including photographs, it will be shown here. Thanks for your co-operation.
