Project 2014 has been started to try and identify all the pubs that are and have ever been open in Kent. I have just started to map out the pubs that exist or existed in Woolwich, but need local knowledge and photographs, old and current if you have any.

As the information is found or sent to me, including photographs, it will be shown here.

Thanks for your co-operation. Every email is answered and all information referenced to the supplier.

This page will be updated as soon as further information is found.

Kentish Gazette, 18 April 1854.

Richard Thomas Hart, formerly living at the "Duke on Horseback," High-street, Woolwich, carpenter and joiner, afterwards of the Queen's Bench Prison, a prisoner for debt, and lastly, of the "Cock," Wilmington, near Dartford, licensed victualler, carpenter and joiner, applied to be discharged. Mr. Reid supported the insolvent. A creditor opposed on several grounds. After a lengthy examination by the creditor, with a view to show fraudulent preference and the obtaining goods under false pretences, his Honour ordered the insolvent to be discharged, remarking that he did not think there was a tittle of evidence adduced to substantiate the allegations of the detaining creditor.
