The above 1920s sign used to be inside the "White Horse" in Minster so Rory Kehoe says.

The Isle of Thanet Williams Directory of 1849 described this as follows:— Cobb's Brewhouse—This brewhouse is very large, and fitted up with every convenience for carrying on the manufacture of our truly national beverage. It is 179 feet long, 43 feet broad, and 75 high from the pavement. This building, which was designed by Mr. W. Teanby, stands on a considerable eminence, and may, therefore, be seen from most parts of the Island, of which it commands an uninterrupted view.

The census of 1871 identified an address of 8 Cobbs Yard, the home of Francis M Cobb, age 25, Brewer. I am informed that this is now (2021) the site of the Margate Police Station.
