From the Dover Telegraph, 11 July 1840.

SUICIDE.

On Monday and inquest was held at the "Star", Round Tower Street, before Mr. G. T. Thompson, the Borough Coroner, and a highly respectable Jury, on view of the body of Jane Blake, spinster, who died on Sunday, in consequence of having taken poison the previous day. A long and tedious explanation of witnesses took place; but the substance of what transpired was simply as above stated.

Verdict-"That the deceased died from the effects of poison, taken while labouring under temporary insanity."
