Pigot's Directory 1839 from the Sandwich pages, mentions a "Rose" as being in Ash under the rule of William Pettman.

This is the only time I have seen this pub mentioned to date.

Just found further mention as late as 1974. Not certain how reliable this information is at present as there are quite a few "Rose's" about.
