This was a popular pub and run by a wonderful couple, Sheila and Gerry, (surname escapes me) when I stayed there as a guest, in 1971 and 1972.

The pub, together with other neighbouring properties, was commonly used for accommodating Firemen from all over the UK, when they were attending their training courses at RAF Manston.

Sheila was an a Cordon Bleu cook and unfortunately Gerry was an alcoholic, I can recall helping to serve in there a couple of times when he was incapable and when he arrived home one night worse for wear, driving into the wall on the left side of the building.

I believe the pub closed mid 1970’s.
