 The "Coxswain," built on the site of the Sands Station in the 1960s, and a short distance from the lifeboatman's statue, a memorial to the nine crew members who died in a surf-boat disaster off Nayland Rock in 1897.

The pub sadly closed in 2006 and has been demolished.
