Above photos taken by Paul Skelton 3 September, 2011, showing what is addressed as "Pear Tree Cottage" and numbered 56. I would say this either stands on the spot or very close to the original "Pear Tree" if in fact it is not the same building.

Douglass Welby, author of "Kentish Village of River", mentions a "Pear Tree" situated at 58 River Street.

The following licensee list only stated beer-house in River, so could apply to the "Vine" instead of this house.
