Mercer's Arms Token

Obv: (mullet) THOMAS (lozenge) FIDG (lozenge) AT (lozenge)THE, around cable inner circle, shield containing Mercer's Arms.

Rev: (mullet) MAYDEN (lozenge) HEAD (lozenge) IN (lozenge)DOVER, around cable inner circle, (lozenge) F (lozenge) over T(rosette) M.

At present I know nothing regarding this establishment, apart from a token was found in Dover with the inscription:- "THOMAS. FIDG. AT. THE. = Mercers' Arms. MAYDEN. HEAD. IN. DOVER. = T.M.F."

Unfortunately no date was given but these were quite common around the 1650s

A mercer being an occupation or a merchant or trader, more specifically a merchant who deals in textiles / mercery.
