Locomotive 2010

Above picture by Patricia Streater, 28th September 2010. Showing 104-106 West Street today, but there is no indication of a Portland Terrace. The house on the left is 104.

Deal Licensing Register on 8 September 1864 mentions this pub and then again in the 1865 Almanac showing Coleman as licensee. Although I have just found reference to it circa 1855 from a list of former pubs in Deal and Walmer kept at Deal library.

Pikes listed it in 1908 as the "Locomotive Inn" 104 West Street. Later information gives it as 106.

From the Deal, Walmer and Sandwich Mercury, May 22nd, 1920

FOR SALE. - Carpenter's Bench, 6ft.; in good condition. - Locomotive, West Street.

Closed March 1963 when owned by Charingtons.
