The Sandwich Borough Records shows Licensed Victuallers who paid for new Inn signs, 6s. 8d, and Sureties of £5 on 12th September, 1662.

No address was given and I can only assume this to be the same public house as the one mentioned below.

The Deal History Society have mentioned a "Griffin and Trumpet" situated West Side of Deal, at the top of Griffin Street, unfortunately this is about all the information they give on the pub, only to say that it changed name to the "Hoop and Griffin" date unknown.
