Sir Tom Yates withdraws club appeal.

There was jubilation among members when it was reported to Dover Rural Council on Tuesday that Sir Tom Yates had withdrawn his appeal against refusal of planning permission for a country club at Martin.

A public enquiry, at which there was expected to be strong opposition to the appeal by the Rural Council and villagers, was due to have been held on Wednesday.

Sir Tom Yates is the former owner of the popular Mirimba Club, Snargate Street, which closed down a year ago.
