Not to be confused for the "Royal Exchange" also along Beach Street.

Steve Glover and Michael Rogers reports in their book The Old Pubs of Deal and Walmer that the premises was situated close to the present day pier and was leased from 1768, a slaughterhouse and kitchen adjoined and communicating in brick, weatherboard and tile etc. Due to road widening the building was demolished in 1845, the area now being covered by the promenade. They say in 1840 it was occupied by a resident called Charles Minter who was a pork butcher and milkman. They also state that in 1841 a Henry Trott was licensee of the "Exchange" beer shop.
