The Battle of the Alma was in 1854 and the pub was obviously named after that year.

The earliest I have traced this house so far is to 1855.

1904 the pub was being supplied by Gardner's Ales.

On 3 December the pub was sold to to Lloyds bank but remained open till August 1963. The property operating as a bank afterwards till the 1970s but is now a private house.
