I have only found the one mention of this establishment at present. I also have reference to a "Sign of Dover" addressed as 35 Old Dover Road, which is close to the Longport area.

From the Kent Herald, 3 July 1828.

An inquisition was yesterday Holden by Mr. T. T. Delasux, at the "Town of Dover," in the borough of Longport, near Canterbury, on the body of William Steddy, aged 72 years, who was early in the morning of that day found suspended by a rope in his dwelling house, in that borough. It appeared from the evidence of the several witnesses, that the deceased to be a member of the Amicable Society of Carpenters and Bricklayers for about 42 years, and that he was at the last quarterly meeting chosen steward, with another person, who, in conjunction with himself and the Clerk, jointly robbed the Society of various sums of money, in consequence of which they were all three expelled. This prayed upon the mind of the deceased, and an in a fit of despair he committed suicide.

Verdict insanity.
