At present I have no information about this one at all, apart from it was
situated along the Church Lane just past the church.

On Trial For Night Assault
Accused of indecently assaulting Miss Brenda Jackson at Smeeth on
Aug. 16, Victor S. Birch, 25, farm worker, of the "Three Horse
Shoes," Church-lane, Aldington, was at the East Kent Sessions
yesterday remanded in custody for six weeks for a medical report.
Prosecuting, Mr. B. Clapham said that Birch accosted Miss Jackson
late at night, as she was walking home, after he had followed her on
his cycle. He attempted to interfere with her, but let her go when
she threatened to scream.

ALLEGED ATTEMPT TO ASSAULT NURSE.
APPEARING at a special sitting of Ashford Bench yesterday with his
right hand bandaged, Victor Stanley Birch, 26, farm worker, of
"Three Horseshoes," Church-lane, Aldington, was remanded to
Canterbury Prison until Thursday on a charge of attempting to cause
grievous bodily harm to Yvonne Jacqueline Brown, a hospital nurse,
at Smeeth, on Sunday.
Det. Sgt. Bailey stated that after being charged, Birch said. “How
is it you bring this in as a criminal charge when she struck me
first? I hit back more or less in self defence, as the saying is."
