Only one reference to this found at present, but it may well be the "Crown and Thistle" whether the latter part of the name was missed off in error or whether one became the other is unknown.

 

From the Maidstone Journal, 5 June 1787

Yesterday se'nnight Mr. Stephen Strong, master of the "Crown" public house, in St. Peters in the Isle of Thanet, had the misfortune to fall from a stack of straw, 20 feet high, on a plank fence that stood near the stack; by his full the plank was broke assunder, and he was so much bruised that he died on Wednesday in the greatest agony and pain.
