I must admit I know absolutely nothing about a pub called the "Chequers" in Ashford and haven't found any reference it it al all, but it turned up in a collection of photos taken by Jim Ashby and kindly sent by Christopher Green.

It seems that in 2007 and today (2025) it is operating as a Bed and Breakfast called Cornerstone.

Local knowledge definitely required on this one thanks.
