It seems the Golden days are over as by October 2024, the pub was referred to simply as the "Lion."

Silverhand Estates, a locally-based vineyard, bought the Lion and it closed in 2025, prior to demolition. But... This appears not to be the end! Silverhand Estates have opened the Lion pop-up pub, which continues to serve the community, whilst extensive building work is carried out. This includes opening a new Lion. Watch this space!
