Reopened in September 2019 after an extensive refurbishment and facelift, this stripped-back Fuller's pub is almost opposite Battersea Park station and attracts a fairly young clientele. There is attractive floor tiling and glazed brickwork around the bar, and a patio (heated in colder weather) to the side.

Historic Interest.

Grade II listing:- A mid-19th Century 3-storey corner building. On the Battersea Park Road elevation the first floor is 3 windows wide and the second 4 windows wide. The altered ground floor is now tiled. The upper floors are stuccoed stone. The first floor windows are each twin lancets set in a 2-centred arched recess. Below the common cillband each window has an apron formed of a blind balustrade. Above a bandcourse the second floor round-headed windows have rusticated surrounds of keyblock and voussoirs. Between the 2 inner windows a corbel-block fronting a crocketed niche supports the figure of a mason wielding mallet and chisel. The crowning dentil cornice supports a blocking course.

The borough dates from the London Government Act of 1899, and includes the greater part of the original ecclesiastical parish of St. Mary Battersea. Under the same Act Penge, formerly a hamlet of Battersea, was constituted a separate urban district...the curious anomalies of local government led to Penge's formation as a separate urban district and its transfer to the county of Kent in 1900. This would join London with neighbouring parishes in 1965. Penge was a wooded district, over which the tenants of Battersea Manor had common of pasture.
