Fagin's 1989

Above photo 1989, kindly sent by Michael Mirams.

All I know about this is that it also housed Peggotty's Diner and so was probably more of a restaurant than public house and was one of the houses owned by Thorley in the 1980s.

Michael Mirams tells me the following:- It was housed in the basement part of the old "Grand Hotel," with top and bottom entry points, and was originally the Grand Bars. I spent a lot of time there in my dissolute teens (Honestly constable, I AM actually over 18 (liar)) and beyond, it was very much a young person’s pub. Regrettably, I don’t recall when the name changed to Fagin’s (if I ever actually knew), or when it closed, but it’s been gone a good few years now, I think there was a bit of trouble there at times.

Further local knowledge required.
