Above photo 10 February 2026, kindly sent by Rory Kehoe. There remains some doubt whether a pub ever existed on Tudor Road, at its junction with Grove Terrace but one may have been planned for and built but never opened, or traded, as licensed premises. The most likely candidate would be No.26 which is known to have been various types of shop over the years and which, even now, looks like it could have served as a pub. Exactly which brewery was behind the idea to open a pub on Tudor Road isn't yet known but the odds would be in favour of one of the four Canterbury breweries which were in business at around the time the Tudor Road area was developed.

More information may emerge, or may not! Thus, the "Zealand Arms" jury remains out for the time being.

This one was mentioned in a list of pubs compiled by David Mansfield's uncle, Percival Parker, the list was compiled around about 1968, but no indication was given as to when the pub was open, and gave no more details other than a pub called the "Zealand Arms" in Tudor Street.

The street itself is quite short and today (2020) there is no building along it that looks like it could have been a public house. As this is the only mention I have seen to date for this one, I am wondering whether this is an error in the list.

Local knowledge required please.
