Milton Regis
Only reference I have to this pub is from the a change of name in 1869. However, there is also a "Lion" in Milton Regis and this may be the same premises. There is also a "Red Lion" in Sittingbourne which should not be mistaken for this one, as the licensees are different. Further research sent to me by Paul Fosbraey, from "Relics of Ancient Milton, lecture by Canon Scott Robertson, December 6th 1877" suggests that "[High House or Post Office] Charles Seagar turned it into the Red Lion Inn, before 1702 but he or his son took down the sign before 1752." Perhaps this was a different one to the one I have found here in the late 1860s.
