In 1996 there was talk that the "Guy Earl of Warwick" was going to be renamed the "Ferret and Trouser Leg," however, the locals were so incensed of this change that they lobbied Bexley borough's three MPs and urged by the council to sign an Early Day Motion in the Commons calling for pub name changes to require planning permission.

I'm not sure whether this bill was ever posted but I never saw reference to that name for a pub in this area again after that date.
