Greenwich

Jacqueline Davies kindly writes to me who says she is interested in 17th century Greenwich and has been doing research from sources including a survey of East Greenwich Manor in the 1690s by Sam Travers.

In the above is mention of a "Blue Boar Tavern" and she writes the following:- The "Blue Boar" on the west of 60 acres of marsh to the east of Greenwich towards Woolwich. Probably not new in 1690s as in 1668 a William Smith transferred the Blew Boar Tavern of Greenwich to his wife Damaris. But could be a different "Blue Boar" a William Smith paid hearth tax at the Dock and Tavern Row in 1664. But maybe the Marsh went right up to Dock and Tavern.
