Previously operating as a supermarket and off-license called "Aksaray Supermarket" the premises had started conversion to the "Troubadour of Kent" in 2017 and opened shortly after. The pub closed under this name at the start of 2019 and has been undergoing some refurbishments. The owners have leased it out to the people who have "Junction 13" and it re-opened on the 23 January 2019 under the new name of the "Tontine Tavern."
