Opposite Parish Church

Strood

This was mentioned in a book called the "History of Strood" by Henry Smetham, published 1899, who says this pub was situated opposite the Parish Church, between the forge and Mr. Illman's, and changed name to the "Barley Mow," unfortunately no dates given. He goes on to say that the site is now (1899) covered by two modern houses. However the census of 1911 give the name of John Paul Potter there as Licensed Victualler in that year.
