Previously called the "George and Dragon" the pub sadly closed in 2003, was subsequently demolished and the footprint redeveloped as residential cottages and flats in 2007.

From the Maidstone Journal, 28 September 1790.

Yesterday se'nnight the following shocking accident happened at Farnborough, in this County; as Mr. Tibbs, master of the "George Inn," at that place, was taking five of his children to school at Orpington, in a post-chaise, the door accidentally flew open, and two of the children fell out, when one of the wheels went over the head of a fine Boy (who was breeched the day before) and killed it almost instantly, the other providentially escaped unhurt.

(I am not totally sure yet whether this is referring to the "George and Dragon" or indeed whether it is another pub with the name of the "George." Paul Skelton.)
