Situated almost opposite the "Ship" the building can be traced back to 1707 when it started life as the "White Hart."

It changed name to the Darenth Tavern" about 1977 and remained with this name till its unfortunate closure in 1990 when it became an Asian Restaurant called "Green Spice."

Thought to have been a one time tied house to Style and Winch, and later Courage till its change of name in 1977 when I believe it operated as a free house untied from any brewery, and so sold real ale and also became a popular music venue.
