Mitcheners Hotel 1790s

Above engraving, late 1700s, also showing one of the Benjamin Beale's bathing machines on the right.

I do not know whether this establishment had a drinks license, or indeed an exact address, but I have found mention of it in the Kentish Gazette of Friday 18th September, 1795 when it was mentioned that a catalogue for an auction could be obtained at the above premises. It was mentioned alongside a lot of other public houses.

Looking at the top engraving it appears that the hotel catered for bathers who could soak in marble hot salt water baths.
