Falcon Inn 2017

The Falcon Inn opens on Friday.

The former "Grog Wench" pub at Westwood will open with a new name and new landlords tonight (July 7).

The Margate Road pub has been renamed The Falcon Inn and will be run by businessman Louis Mayhew, who will become one of the country’s youngest pub landlords.

The 24-year-old will take the helm with girlfriend Deja Brown, 19, and his mum taking on the cooking.

Louis, from Palm Bay, is already the co-director of Falcon Electrical & Security Ltd and says he hopes his colleagues and staff will get involved in the new venture.

Falcon customers will also get a bonus with plans to offer a discount for food and drinks at the bar.

Work has taken place over the last week to revamp the garden, car park, bar and exterior lighting.

Louis said: “It’s quite a big decision but we are ready.”

Plans are underway to create a new website.

The opening takes place from 7pm on Friday and will include live music, a barbecue and bouncy castle.

The Falcon Inn is at 460 Margate Road, Broadstairs (Westwood).

Louis Mayhew 2017

Landlord Louis Mayhew is closing The Falcon Inn.

A Westwood pub is to close just four months after it was taken over by a new landlord.

The Falcon Inn, formerly the Grog Wench, in Margate Road opened on July 7 with landlord Louis Mayhew at the helm.

The 24-year-old businessman carries out refurbishment works and hosted a series of events at the venue.

But he has today (November 16) announced that the pub will shut tonight after a leaving party.

In a social media announcement Louis, who is also co-director of Falcon Electrical and Security Ltd, said: “We would personally like thank each and every person that has visited us and we wish you all the very best and hope you all have a great Christmas.”

Louis, from Palm Bay, said the venture had not been turning a profit and so he had made the decision to close.

He added: “I will be focusing on the electrical company and my other new companies.”

The leaving party will be from 6pm and all drinks will be at discounted rates.

The Falcon Inn is at 460 Margate Road, Broadstairs (Westwood).
