Previously the "Duke William" and changed name in 1758. I believe the pub eventually closed its doors around 1820.

 

Kentish Chronicles, 14 January, 1794.

On last New Year's Day there dined at the "Cumberland" at Harbledown, ten gentleman and two ladies, whose ages together amounted to 893; what is more singular, nine of the gentleman are brothers.

 

Kentish Gazette 31 March 1801.

Monday night or Tuesday morning, the "Duke of Cumberland" public house at Harbledown was broke open and; but the family being alarmed the villains made of undiscovered.
