Pier

Only the one instance of this found at present, and I don't think it's a misprint although the "Swan Hotel" was situated in Strond Street, just off the Pier District.

From the Kentish Gazette, 23 December-26 December, 1769.

Notice is hereby given, that the Christmas meeting of the brotherly Society, established at the "White Swan," at the pier, in Dover, shall be holding on Monday the 5th of January next comma at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, when and where the subscribers comma and others under 40 years of age, willing to become members, and I'll decide to attend.
