Wetherspoon's 904th pub and their biggest is to open at the Royal Victoria Pavilion on August 29th. Other pubs welcome the refurbishment of this 114 year old building because they expect greater footfall, although this pub alone can cater for 1,500. The building has been a fulltime 1,200 seat cinema, from 1929-51 except during WW2, but was last used as a casino, until a new one was built at Westwood Cross. Source BBC News Southeast Today. Further research tells me that previous to being the Club Tiberius Caseno, the building operated as a nightclub known as "Peggy Sue's" for a short time, before changing name again as a nighclub called the "Fifth Avenue."

Enormous Wetherspoons sprawling over almost 11,000 square feet is set to open in a former seafront casino.

'Super Spoon' in Ramsgate is set to be the chain's biggest venue yet.

It will be housed in the resort's Royal Victoria Pavillion and will create 150 jobs.

A spokesman for the company suggested it might be the largest pub in the UK.

Wetherspoons is set to open the doors to a monster 'super pub', which will be the chain's biggest yet, that's spread over 10,500 square feet.

The chain has released an artist's impression of how the pub - to be housed in a former casino and dancehall on the seafront in Ramsgate, Kent - will look once it has opened on 29 August.

Wetherspoons already has more than 900 branches, but the latest venue, the Royal Victoria Pavilion, is set to be the biggest. A spokesman for the company suggested it might be the largest pub in the UK, but that claim has not yet been verified.

Either way, the pub is going to be a roomy venue. It will retain and restore many of the Grade II-listed building's original features including its high ceilings, thanks to an investment of £4million.

The elegant building is set to have terraces overlooking the seafront, a wood-panelled bar and a grand staircase, making a welcome departure from the rather less sophisticated interiors associated with Wetherspoons.

The classic circular windows will be restored and customers can enjoy drinks on the spacious terraces overlooking the sea front.

The Royal Victoria Pavillion on the seafront in Ramsgate, Kent, is set to be the biggest Wetherspoons in the country, boasting 10,500 square foot of customer space.

The pub will create around 150 jobs, while any spare space in the building will be rented by shops or small businesses.

The original Royal Victoria Pavilion was built in 1903, to a design by architect Stanley Davenport Adshead.

It has stood derelict since 2008, with a fire in 2011 further damaging the neglected building.

The new boozer will also retain and restore many of the Grade II-listed building's original features including its high ceilings, thanks to an investment of £4 million.
