Mentioned in Steve Glover and Michael Rogers book The Old Pubs of Deal and Walmer.

This was a members only club that was open in 1989 and situated in what was previously the Flicks cinema. This later changed name to "MD's," "Velvet Underground," "Tube," and "Alby's," but I am not sure whether that is the correct order.

In June 2003 the building was renovated and opened in two parts as the "Academy Sports Bar and the Rivals" nightclub.
