The Royal Oak in Charing goes on the market after decade closed.
A run-down village pub with holes in the ceiling and an overgrown
garden has gone on the market after sitting empty for more than a
decade.
The Royal Oak in Charing High Street last served pints in 2014 and
is now up for sale for offers in excess of £350,000.

The pub is described as a “local landmark” by estate agents Family
Homes.
The listing says: “Set in the heart of the picturesque village of
Charing, on the vibrant High Street, The Royal Oak Public House
presents a rare and exciting opportunity for investors and
developers alike.
“This substantial, detached property boasts a commanding presence in
a sought-after Kent location.
“Currently vacant and requiring a full refurbishment, The Royal Oak
offers a blank canvas for a visionary transformation.”
Along with the pub, there are six rooms “ideal for an Airbnb” and
what the estate agents describe as a “nightclub room” upstairs.
“Don’t miss this opportunity to breathe new life into a local

funding support,” the listing adds.
The Royal Oak was last sold at auction in 2024, but was not reopened
and is now back on the market.
In 2016, plans to turn it into a Costa Coffee branch were met with
huge opposition from locals.

The pub first opened in about 1878. It lost ‘Royal’ from the title
in around 2006 and was operated as The Oak up to its closure, but
has been listed for sale with its original name. |
