97 Farwig Lane Bromley
The pub took its name from the local district, which acquired it from Mr Johann Farwig (a member of a significant metal-working firm established in Newington Causeway) who purchased the land in the late eighteenth century. This street corner-sited Victorian pub originally had a carriage pull-in to the left side of the building, which was later filled in as a sweet shop and in the 1960’s became incorporated into the pub footprint at closure it still has separate bars; a narrow public bar and a large saloon bar. The pub sadly closed between May and September 2014 and was converted into a Co-op stores.
