Above photo, circa 1923, kindly sent by Debi Birkin. When this photograph was taken, the pub was quite a far-flung outpost for Edward Mason's Waterside Brewery, Maidstone. Above showing a 1920 Mason's bottled ales advert.

The building is 15th century and changed name to the "Timber Batts." Date of name change during the 1970s I believe.

The pub was part of the Mason's of Maidstone tied estate, taken over by Sheps in 1956. Presumably then, the pub was a Sheps house until sale into the free trade?
