Jim Packer author of the "Lost Pubs of Bexley" says the pub was acquired by Messrs Tasker brewers of Dartford in 1783. The building was put pp for sale 2015 demolished June 2016.

THE MURDER AT ERITH.

At the Maidstone Assizes yesterday, a carpenter, named Berry, was tried before Mr. Baron Pollock for the murder of a woman, named Adams, who was stabbed by the prisoner nine or ten times with a chisel at the "Leather Bottle Tavern," Erith. Berry was found guilty on the capital charge and sentenced to death.
