PUB LIST PUBLIC HOUSES Paul Skelton

Earliest ????

Good Intent

Latest ????

New Hythe

Hoping I haven't included this pub in another village, but only found to date from the licensee changes mentioned in the Kent and Sussex Courier of 1908.

From The Courier, 12 March, 1909.

THE "GOOD INTENT," NEWHYTHE.

The renewal in this case was applied for by Mr. Booth Hearn, of Rochester.

According to the evidence of Serge. Everett, there are two other beer-houses within 90 yards of the "Good Intent." Both Sergt. Everett and Sergt. Emptage, who was formerly stationed in the locality, considered that the house was not required for the needs of the neighbourhood.

At the conclusion of the police evidence, Mr. Booth Hearn intimated that he should not further contest the case before the Magistrates, as he felt it would be wasting their time.

The Clerk:- Then you are simply asking for a provisional license?

Mr. Booth Hearn: Yes.

The Chairman:- That will be granted.

The result is that the following licenses are referred to the County Licensing Committee: The "Nag's head." The "Royal Oak." The "Cricketer's Arms," and the "Sportsman," West Malling; The "Good Intent," Newhythe; the "Apple Tree," and the "New Found Out," East Peckham.
